From GP Visit to Clinical Summary: How CareReady is Changing the Appointment Experience
Marra's CareReady module prepares elderly patients for GP appointments through voice, generates a clinical summary, and delivers it to the GP via Accurx — before the patient even walks in the door.
A typical GP appointment lasts 10 minutes. In those 10 minutes, a patient needs to describe their symptoms, recall their medication history, explain how they have been feeling, and understand the GP's advice. For many elderly patients — especially those experiencing cognitive decline, anxiety, or simply the stress of a medical appointment — this is an enormous ask.
The result? 16 million GP appointments are missed or wasted in the UK every year. 1 in 3 patients give up seeking medical advice because wait times feel too long. And when patients do attend, crucial information is often missed.
The CareReady Approach
CareReady begins working days before the appointment. When an appointment is detected in the patient's NHS records, the system sends a reminder and initiates a pre-visit voice conversation. The AI asks structured questions about current symptoms, medication changes, concerns the patient wants to raise, and how they have been feeling since the last visit.
This conversation is transformed into a structured clinical summary — patient-reviewed and patient-approved before it leaves the system. It is then delivered directly to the GP via Accurx, the NHS-approved clinical communication platform used by over 95% of GP practices in England.
What GPs Are Saying
"The patient arrives and I can already see their concerns laid out clearly before they sit down. It completely changes the dynamic of the consultation," said one GP in our early feedback sessions. "I can focus on the medicine rather than the history-taking."
Post-appointment, CareReady follows up with the patient to check they understood the GP's advice and that prescriptions were collected. The loop is closed.
This is what NHS-connected AI looks like in practice — not replacing the doctor, but making every minute of the appointment count.
